As if the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus weren’t a good enough deal already, Android Nougat has arrived on both devices.
This major update brings a slew of improvements and new features to these mid-range stunners, effectively making them a no-brainer for anyone looking for the latest and greatest Android software.
Running down the list, a few items stick out as game-changers for both heavy and casual users alike. Multi-window view is an obvious mention, as it grants you more flexibility with the screen real-estate to use two apps at the same time. Not every app supports split-screen view, but you’ll be surprised just how many do.
Next up, a few essential quality-of-life updates. Data saver is a new feature that limits an app’s ability to background refresh while away from Wi-Fi, which will likely lead to a friendlier mobile bill at the end of the month. Additionally, Doze now works when you’re on the go, intelligently saving as much battery as possible through the day and night.
Moto has also added a new action for its phones that allows you to swipe to shrink the screen for easier one-handed use. Sure, there are much larger Android phones out there, like the LG V20 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but it’s still a thoughtful addition.
The list of tweaks and additions with this update is lengthy, and you can check out the full list right here. As it has done with the Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Moto Z Play, Moto has done good for Moto G4 users, too, despite its much lower price point.
