LG just patented a new concept for a smartphone that wraps the screen clear past the top side of the handset all the way to the back.
Published just a couple days ago, the patent shows the screen covering both the front and back of the device - essentially making it two-sided while using just one display.
The patent only covers ownership over the wraparound screen, calling it "ornamental" in the description, meaning other parts of the claim's illustrations like the home button and form factor are likely not meant as part of the design, as Mobilescout points out.

LG isn't the only company chiseling away the bezel of its phones. Xiaomi's impressive Mi Mix concept is over 90% screen, while Apple has put out some out-there wraparound concepts with its own patents of late.
Concepts aside, we can expect to learn more what actually is in store from the company at this year's Mobile World Congress, which takes place in Barcelona later this month.
