TouchWiz. Long the bane of Android user interface geeks. If you interpret it a certain way, it can sound rude. And hey, some people don’t deign to recognize wizards beyond the pale of pinball.
No more will Samsung’s software skin over Google’s OS be called TouchWiz. It seems that the third-round update for the Galaxy Beta Program‘s Android N OS test is renaming it the “Samsung Experience.” Crazier yet, we’re already on version 8 of it.
Just as the wacky gestures for obscure features have faded away, so has Samsung stopped talking about TouchWiz. But will we really want to hear more and more about this “Samsung Experience”? Could the chaebol also apply this name to its efforts on Tizen smartphones — branding is everything after all, and with the company taking the lead on its special OS, making sure that we know who made it could be a good idea.
The Galaxy Beta Program has been working to tweak Android 7.0 for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge for over a month now.
