OPPO rumored for US sales by month’s end

For many Chinese manufacturers, the race to the United States has been on for a long time. Huawei, ZTE and LeEco have burst into the country, each with their own strategies.

The former two companies have had limited product distribution in the US prior to going their own ways, but they’ve mostly been stuck in the prepaid bin. Meanwhile, LeEco strikes out as the first of lesser-known crossovers to set foot in the states while Xiaomi has been keen to try and follow, too.

But a new challenger seems to have risen as OPPO is being rumored to sell its products to the United States before 2016 is out. Digitimes is reporting from its sources that the company’s strategy focuses on “high-performance camera phones” with its 200 global patents on photographic technologies.

OPPO, which also makes Blu-ray players for the US market, is part of its parent conglomerate BBK, which also controls the Chinese smartphone brand vivo and has interests in OnePlus.
