T-Mobile may promote Google Pixel, but not sell it

Verizon has its retail vice grip over the Google Pixel in the US. You can’t just head over to an AT&T store or a MetroPCS store and just pick one of these things up. That’s just a matter of fact.

Here’s the thing, though: no matter where you buy it from, you do have the option of utilizing the phone at any of the major US carriers, including T-Mobile.

The Un-carrier has been playing coy about being the “resistance” to Verizon, giving out some bill credits for those who decided to bring their Pixel in from the Google Store or Best Buy, etc.

Now, sources from inside Magentaland to Android Police claim that the Google Pixel will get a display section at some T-Mobile outlets. Employees will guide interested customers through the purchase process at the Google Store or Best Buy.

The speculative arrangement is being framed as a “deal” between Google and T-Mobile, though neither would say much about it.

The telco won’t derive any hardware commission on the deal and we don’t know if its employees will benefit from these quasi-sales. Google, in the meantime, has been catching fire for brandish its “exclusive” label for Verizon without really telling people that they have other retail options (that also provide financing).
