Three is as far as those on Big Red will go.
In an abruptly issued notice, Samsung has notified participants of its Galaxy Beta Program that owners of Verizon variant Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units will not receive further updates for the Android Nougat OS trial.
Users may either move back to the stable Android 6.0.1 release or wait until “early next year” for the commercial release of Android 7.0. This indicates that the Nougat beta will almost definitely see updates even through Christmas.
We don’t know what happened to cause this exclusion, but we do know that Verizon has exerted its influence over the Galaxy S phones it does carry — opting for heavy doses of post-load software and disabling major features in its favor.
