HTC U 11 specs and features revealed in full

The HTC U 11 is just a couple of weeks away, but you won’t have to wait until the announcement to get the full scoop on HTC’s next flagship, as a leaked image supposedly showing the box art has revealed just about every single spec and feature of the phone.

That image, leaked by MySmartPrice, lists a 5.5-inch QHD display protected by tough Gorilla Glass 5, a Snapdragon 835 chipset (the same as is used in the US version of the Samsung Galaxy S8), and 6GB of RAM – though a recent benchmark suggests it has just 4GB, so there might be two different versions of the phone launched.

So far, so flagship, but there’s a lot more listed. To no surprise at all the HTC U 11 is listed as having an ‘Edge Sense’ feature, which is presumably the heavily leaked and teased ability to interact with the phone by squeezing the sides.

Snapping like the Ultra

The camera is apparently 12MP with an f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization, and is branded as ‘UltraPixel 3’, though other than a slightly larger aperture (meaning more light can be captured) it’s not clear how this differs from the underwhelming 12MP snapper on the HTC U Ultra.

The HTC U 11 also apparently has a 16MP front-facing camera, just like the HTC U Ultra.

The phone is supposedly IP57 certified, which means it’s not totally dust tight and waterproof, but it can be submerged up to 1 meter deep and any dust ingress shouldn’t interfere with its operation. In both cases that’s notably less protection than the likes of the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 have.

Other listed specs and features include Quick Charge 3.0 support for its likely 3,000mAh battery, 128GB of storage, a microSD card slot, BoomSound, Hi-Res audio, a fingerprint scanner, NFC and the ability to record 3D audio. There’s no mention of a 3.5mm headphone port, and we’re not expecting one.

None of the specs here sound unlikely and in fact they largely line up with what we’ve heard before. Of course, we still can’t take any of them as fact, but we’d be surprised if the HTC U 11 surprises us much come May 16.

  • The OnePlus 4 could be an affordable alternative
