HMD Global has announced that the Nokia 6 will be available for purchase in "early June 2017" via Amazon, marking the Finnish company's debut of its Nokia brand relaunch in the US.
The 5.5-inch Nokia 6, powered by Android Nougat, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and will launch in black and silver (with more colors to follow later this year) for the tune of $229 (about £180, AU$300).
The Nokia 6 also features like a 16MP camera (and 8MP front-facing camera) with dual-tone flash, Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphics, and 32GB internal memory with microSD support for up to 128GB of added storage.
While not exactly on par with top-shelf powerhouses like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and HTC U11, the Nokia 6 costs nearly a third of the price, making it a far more agreeable pick for cost-conscious consumers.
HMD Global purchased the exclusive licensing rights of the Nokia name from Microsoft last year, relaunching the long-running mobile brand with a new line of Android handsets — to include the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5, with the Nokia 6 being the first of the company's handsets to make a widespread release.
All three phones are also prepared to support Android's upcoming Android O update, which is expected to roll out towards the end of this year.
