Apple ramps up AIDS-fighting efforts with four snazzy new (RED) products

Contrary to rumors running rampant at one point in the lead-up to iPhone 7’s September announcement, neither the new 4.7-inch iOS handheld, nor Apple’s dual camera 5.5-incher comes in a swanky blue hue.

But in addition to silver, black, gold, rose gold and jet black, you can now get the smaller A10-powered device coated in even flashier red. Well, sort of, as the third iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case option merely changes the look of the product’s rear cover, while boosting energy by a cool 2365mAh.

It still costs $99, just like the white and black models, raising visibility for World AIDS Day and Cupertino’s ongoing fight against HIV, in partnership with (RED), a charitable organization co-founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver back in 2006.

Since then, Apple has contributed almost $120 million to the Global Fund, crucially helping an effort predicted to completely eradicate AIDS by 2030. This year, up to $1 million will be donated for Apple Pay purchases operated through December 6, as well as all proceeds from in-app expenses associated with limited-edition, custom (RED) content offered across 20 popular App Store games, including Angry Birds 2, Candy Crush Jelly Saga, Clash of Clans, FIFA Mobile, or Plants vs. Zombies Heroes.

You can also join this noble cause by snapping up new (Product) RED versions of an iPhone SE case, Beats Solo 3 wireless on-ear headphones and Pill+ portable speaker, or revisit the existing crimson lineup to pick up iPhone 6s or 6s Plus cases, Apple Watch Sport bands, select iPad covers, and iPods dedicated to creating an “AIDS-free generation.”
