Galaxy S7 Android Nougat beta goes into third round

We’re saving a little grace for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

SamMobile reports that the third revision of the Android 7.0 Nougat beta has been sent out to eligible smartphones in the UK. New features in this 300MB software update are mixed with some new problems.

The problems first: the S7 edge has lost its Edge feeds, so there won’t be streaming tickers for at least a while. Whether or not it gets removed for its lack of usefulness will soon be known. One recurring bug is that the screen’s backlight doesn’t immediately shine on when the phone gets woken up, though Samsung claims that reports of this issue have been sporadic.

On the other hand, you do have the liberty to switching around the layout of the Quick Toggles in the notification shade and even move the screen brightness toggle to above the toggles. The Security Patch level has moved to November 1 as well.

Samsung’s beta update pace has averaged to about weekly. We should expect at least one more update before a mid-December final release.
