Mobile payments are always looking to get another notch into the payment scene. Switching banks? Use your phone to pay for things! Use your phone to get into the Underground! Scorn pay and the Coin card, the phone’s where it’s at.
Well, in addition to the occasional hit of first-timer discounts, Android Pay may also have something up its sleeve, according to an APK teardown from Android Police.
In version v1.10, there are strings of code not yet activated referring to a “tap_game” that has to do with coins or tokens. Crackers — either an English artifice in Christmas tradition or a reference to nutcrackers — can be attained and redeemed for prizes. Results can be shared with friends while users can also opt-out as needed.
We’ll have to see what holiday campaign Android Pay has in store for us, but until we see anything official, everything’s under wraps.
